How We Calculate Streaming Earnings

Every rate in every calculator is backed by platform documentation, real streamer interviews, and cross-referenced community data. Full transparency.

The Short Version

Calculators are only as useful as the data behind them. Here's exactly how we source, validate, and maintain the numbers you see.

How We Build Each Calculator

๐Ÿ“–
Platform Documentation First
Every formula starts with the official platform agreement. If Kick says 95%, that's the baseline. We don't guess revenue shares โ€” we read the contracts.
๐ŸŽ™๏ธ
Streamer Interviews & Community Data
We asked real streamers. Over 60 creators across all platforms shared earnings screenshots, breakdowns, or verbal confirmations. Data from $100/month streamers to $50,000/month creators.
๐Ÿ“Š
Cross-Reference & Validation
A single data point isn't enough. Every key metric (like Kick's KPP rate per engaged viewer) was validated against at least 5 independent sources before being used in calculations.
๐Ÿ”„
Regular Updates
Platform rates change. We monitor official announcements, creator community updates, and platform policy changes. Each calculator shows the last-reviewed date so you know how current the data is.
๐Ÿงฎ
Conservative Estimations
Where ranges exist, we use the middle or lower end. We'd rather you be pleasantly surprised than disappointed. An estimate is an estimate โ€” we make this clear throughout.

Data Sources by Platform

We Asked Real Streamers

Documentation tells you the revenue share percentage. It doesn't tell you what actual ad CPMs look like in practice, or what the real Kick KPP rate per engaged viewer is. We bridged that gap by going to creators directly.

60+
Creator interviews and income verifications
5+
Platforms covered with primary research
$100โ€“$50K
Monthly income range of creators surveyed
12+ months
Ongoing data validation period

Creator identities are kept confidential unless they gave explicit consent to be cited. Income data was provided voluntarily and used only for aggregate benchmarking.

Why Formulas Aren't Public

The exact variables, rates, and multipliers used in our calculators are managed through our internal CMS and are not publicly accessible. This is intentional. Here's why:

  • โ†’Platform rates change โ€” a public formula quickly becomes wrong and misleading
  • โ†’Scrapers and competitors shouldn't be able to lift our work wholesale
  • โ†’Rate validation is ongoing โ€” formulas in production go through review before updating
  • โ†’The tool is the product, not the data behind it

What we do share: our methodology, our sources, and our reasoning. If you believe a specific rate is wrong, contact us with evidence โ€” we update formulas regularly.

Limitations & Disclaimer

Our calculators provide estimates, not guarantees. Actual earnings vary based on:

  • โ€ขYour specific audience engagement rate and demographics
  • โ€ขThe geographic location of your viewers (US/UK viewers have higher CPMs than viewers from developing countries)
  • โ€ขSeasonal ad spend (Q4 can be 2โ€“3ร— higher than Q1)
  • โ€ขYour content niche (finance content has 5โ€“8ร— higher CPMs than general gaming)
  • โ€ขPlatform algorithm changes and policy updates
  • โ€ขWhether you have ad block users in your audience

StreamEarnings.com and its estimates are not financial advice. Always verify current platform rates in official documentation before making business decisions. Tax estimates are illustrative only โ€” consult a qualified accountant.
